Almost as Cool as Getting The Sand From Bloodsport Thrown in Your Eyes
As far as I can remember, I've never actually seen Rocky--look, I haven't seen a lot of movies--but I understand the cultural significance that the movie has in our country, and even internationally. This new book, Rocky Stories, seems like a pretty interesting ethnography of the legacy of one of the most famous sports movie scenes of the last 40 years. It documents all the people who have come to the Philly Museum of Art to run the steps like Stallone did years ago. I'll let Sly explain the significance (yeah, we're on a first name basis): "You can't borrow Superman's cape. You can't use the Jedi laser sword. But the steps are there. The steps are accessible. And standing up there, you kind of have a piece of the Rocky pie."
