The conventional thinking is that spectator sports act as distractions from our day-to-day lives. But sometimes you have to live in the reality, like this past Saturday when my wife and daughter were in our friend’s wedding. Somehow Becky Li thought a celebration of love was more important than people mashing their heads together with the goal of carrying a ball towards a specially-colored piece of grass. Fine.
After the first half of the Texas/OU game this weekend (OU was leading 34-10), I was happy for the wedding to start; it became my distraction from sports. Weird how that works. N0 one should need a distraction from sports. Maybe I need to take a step back and re-evaluate how much I invest in watching football…but Texas is playing OK State and there is NO WAY I CAN MISS THIS GAME. 🙂
